Anchoring Anxiety Programme

Understand anxiety. Work with your nervous system.

Develop practical ways to respond, at a pace shaped around you.

A structured programme for learning techniques, including somatic therapy, nervous-system regulation and mindfulness, that may help you understand and respond to anxiety differently, rather than relying on any single method.

Anxiety involves more than thoughts

Mind, body and environment can all shape the anxiety response

Anxiety can show up through worry and prediction, and through breathing rate, tension, energy, sensation and action. These experiences can be understood as part of the body's protective response to threat, uncertainty or pressure.

01

Thoughts and attention

Worry, prediction and threat scanning.

02

Body and nervous system

Breathing, tension, heart rate and arousal.

03

Actions and avoidance

Checking, pulling back and seeking certainty.

04

Needs and context

Sleep, relationships and current pressures.

Each part can feed the next, and noticing the cycle is often the first step in working with it.

An integrated approach

An open approach, not a fixed script

The programme is not built around one technique. Somatic therapy, nervous-system regulation and mindfulness are each offered as techniques to learn and try, alongside practical psychological strategies, adapted to the person and the pace that feels manageable. What helps varies from person to person, and part of the work is finding out what's useful for you.

01

Understand

Explore what activates anxiety and what may keep a pattern going.

02

Notice

Build safer awareness of thoughts, sensations and early signs.

03

Respond

Practise psychological and body-based ways to create more choice.

04

Apply

Bring the work into ordinary life and situations that matter.

There's no fixed number of sessions or a set script to follow. The pace and the techniques are agreed together, and can change as things develop.

These are techniques to learn and practise, offered honestly as things that may help, not a guaranteed fix. If something isn't working for you, that's useful information, and we'll try something else.

A practical example

Making sense of an anxious moment

The aim is not to force calm. A short check-in can help you notice what is happening and consider what may support you next.

01

Orient

Notice where you are and what is happening around you.

02

Notice

What thoughts, sensations, emotions or urges are present?

03

Support

What might help your body feel a little more supported?

04

Choose

What is one manageable action that fits the situation?

Your continuing plan

Build a realistic plan for ongoing practice.

A simple technique

Sometimes the simplest movements help most

Crossing your arms and applying gentle, steady pressure is one small way to bring a sense of grounding back to the body. It is not a fix on its own, just one more tool to have on hand alongside the others.

Who the programme may support

For anxiety that has started taking up too much space

Structured individual support for anxiety affecting daily life, including when physical sensations and nervous-system responses are a significant part of the experience.

Finding the right level of support

A discovery call is an opportunity to consider whether this programme fits what you need. If another form of therapy, medical assessment or specialist support appears more appropriate, I will be open about that.

Wellness Within UK is not a crisis service.

You do not need to have this figured out before you start. That is what the sessions are for.

How the programme works

Support shaped around your needs, not a fixed course

There's no set number of sessions. We agree the pace together, review it regularly, and adjust as things develop.

60-minute sessions, online and one-to-one

Frequency and length agreed together

No fixed number of sessions

Progress reviewed and the plan adjusted as needed

Session fee
£45 per session

Individual 60-minute online sessions, billed as you go.

How many sessions you need is worked out together, some people find a short series enough, others prefer ongoing support. There's no package to commit to upfront.
